BSSA UK Open 2011.

Nick Coupe won the BSSA UK Open 2011 held at Lakenheath Clay Target Centre in what can only be described as extreme conditions and with a very gutsy performance!

The UK Open started on Friday afternoon with the Doubles Championship. Peter Stanton-Hope was the Doubles Champion with a 98 and Dave Morgan Runner Up on 97.

Nick Coupe won the 12 gauge on day two with the only 100 straight of the competition, for me that said it all. Ged Smith was Runner Up on a 99.

Pete Usher won the 28 gauge on a 99 with Loll Barr Runner Up on 97 after a shoot off with Nick Marsden.

Day three was much the same as day one and two weather wise with maybe the gusting wind not quit as harsh as day two.

Again in a true champion's style Nick Coupe shot a 99 along with Nick Marsden with Mr Coupe was the victor after a shoot off.

The afternoon arrived with great trepidation. The wind did calm down much the relief of those shooting the .410.

Pete Usher on the first afternoon flight shot a 99 (not quite sure what happened there?) and Nick Coupe shot a 98 along with Ged Smith (welcome back) with Nick winning the shoot off and the runner up spot.

The HOA scores and gauge champions are all posted on this site so I won't repeat them here, but I would like to say that the event even given the appalling wind conditions and sand storms maintained a good atmosphere and all entrants seemed to enjoy the challenge and the event.
