BSSA Entry Costs 2011.
A Custodian meeting was convened by the BSSA Chairman Paul Fallon at the UK Open Championship on Saturday 14th May to address reports received by the Custodians that there is much disquiet within the UK NSSA shooters concerning the targets only policy and optional purses at BSSA Championships.
This policy was adopted and implemented by the Custodians three years ago to try and keep the costs of entry at BSSA Championships to a minimum.
Bod Whitehead reported that the main stay of the disquiet is that there is no class purses in the gauges and that the BSSA added monies is only applied to the HOA Classes.
It was explained that the BSSA added monies was originally planned for the HOA as it would have been diluted too far if it had been distributed into the gauges and gauge Champions purses.
After discussion with both Directors all three Custodians unanimously decided that for the remaining two BSSA events, The BSSA State and the European Open, the entry will be on a competition basis with compulsory prize monies in all classes with the class monies remaining in class.
Obviously the cost of entry will be higher than targets only, but interestingly at the UK Open the average entry paid which included those who played the optional purses and the targets only was £161.90 across the HOA.
We are currently running a cost analysis to determine what the cost would need to be to include all options at entry. I will notify all the UK NSSA shooters on this web site of the cost per gauge proposed for the BSSA at Northampton when determined.
