BSSA Iron Man
Championships 2008.

One of the main agenda items at the meeting of the Custodians on the 16th March was at what level the entry costs should be set at for the BSSA Iron Man Championship at Northampton SG on the 26th & 27th April 2008.

Many permutations of payout and sponsorship were considered in the Custodian meeting of the 16th March. The Chairman asked that further consideration be given to this matter as he considered it to be imperative that the committee get this financial balance correct. After further consultation between your Custodians, which included both Directors, it was decided that with spiralling fuel and cartridge costs being a major factor, that the entry cost for the first BSSA championship of the 2008 should be kept as low as possible for the BSSA shooters.

For the reasons mentioned above, the Iron Man entry has been set at £112 for the 400 targets on a target only basis. This entry fee represents the actual cost charged to the BSSA per Iron Man entry shown below.

Breakdown of the clays cost per 100 targets.

  • Cost per 100 targets - £21
  • Referee allowance - £4 per 100 targets pulled.
  • NSSA fee's - £1.50
  • BSSA fee's - £1.50

Your Custodians are always looking to save a pound or two, and obviously any saving will be passed to the BSSA shooters by way of the Championship added prize monies.

Your Custodians have also decided to increased the planned £500 BSSA added money discussed on the 16th March to £600, with all Iron Man entrants eligible to win this BSSA added money. In the event that the entry swells due to this lower entry cost, the £600 BSSA added cash will also swell, giving you the BSSA shooter the full benefit of your associations funds across the board.

The initial added monies will be placed as follows;

  • High Gun - £112
  • Runner Up - £86
  • AA through E - £67 Class First

The BSSA is also offering optional purse games for this championship by way of line options, Red Hot Jackpots (High Gun and the East & West), and class winners.

We the Custodians hope you will agree that we could do no more to keep the cost of entry any lower for this championship, and hope as such, you will come along and support the BSSA at this Iron Man Championship in April at Northampton SG.
