Northampton SG hosted the BSSA Iron Man championship on the weekend of the 26th & 27th April 2008.
 
They say a championship is judged not just by the scores, but by the atmosphere it generates. The 2008 Iron Man Championship had both.
 
Day one proceedings were not helped with a stiff gusting wind along the ranges from the low house direction. The targets given the wind strength remained well shootable, as Simon Hill showed by stamping his authority on the event with a day one 200 straight. Chris Morris and Nick Marsden worked hard to stay in contention with 198's and Micky Dore on 197.
 
The East Champion with the 200 straight was Simon Hill, with Nick Marsden R/U on 198 after a shoot-off with Chris Morris.
 
Day two started with absolutely still conditions. Could the magical 400 be on? The pack looking for the honours, Simon Hill, Chris Morris, Nick Marsden, Micky Dore and Dave Morgan commenced battle.
 
The winner of the West on 199 was Chris Morris, who after a shoot-off beat Simon Hill into the R/U slot and Micky Dore to AA1.
 
The East and West determined left the HOA, and after the noise and dust had settled, Simon Hill was crowned BSSA Iron Man 2008 with a 399 and Chris Morris Runner Up on 397.

2008 Lady Iron Man Champion is Catherine Marsden and Veteran Champion John Batchelor.
